Lastingham Decarbonisation Project
We are working with Sustainable Lastingham, Environmental Smart CIC and YorEnergy on a multi technology decarbonisation assessment for Lastingham, a rural village in the North Yorks Moors National Park. The work is being funded through a £36,450 Community Fund grant from GB Energy which is administered by the North East & Yorkshire Net Zero Hub. We have also raised £11,000 in private match funding to support the project.
We are assessing the potential for both deep and shallow ground-source heating, hydro-power from the village water courses and the overall demand and capacity for local power generation through solar PV. The work will also include community engagement activities and a planning assessment undertaken jointly with the North Yorks Moors Parks Authority.
